How to go from :( to :) in 20 mins or less

Good morning. My heart’s going out to everyone dealing with Hurricane Helene. I’m so sorry if you or a loved one were impacted. It’s all heartbreaking. If you want to help but aren’t quite sure what to do, you might consider donating to the Red Cross.

To nurture our own spirits, let’s return to the idea of fulfillment and the role relationships play. Loving relationships with our friends, families, communities, and coworkers offer tremendous meaning but can also be a source of stress and pain.

Byron Katie’s tool called The Work is a somewhat miraculous relationship cure-all tool. I’ve used it twice this week to prevent conflict with my partner. I like to say it can take you from pissed off to compassionate in 20 mins or less.

How to try it:

  1. Fill in the Judge Your Neighbor Worksheet. Vent like your bratty teenage self and use simple language.
  2. Take the statement that upsets you the most into the One Belief at a Time Worksheet. Slow down when you ask yourself if it’s true. This power is in questioning the thought. Let the answers rise from within.
  3. Read this PDF if you want more context.
  4. You can also book 30 minutes to practice with me. I’ve really benefited from this tool, and I am happy to help you explore it!

That’s it for this week. I hope you have a wonderful weekend. Let’s enjoy Fall!

PS – I am considering a New Year’s retreat from Jan 2-5 at Spirit Camp in Mendocino, CA. $2500 for three days + 6 weeks of group coaching to hold you accountable. We’ll leverage nature to intuit our vision for the year, do some deep work to get out of our way, and build bad a** action plans. Respond if you’re interested. If I get 10 attendees by 10/25, we’ll do it!
