Do WAY Less + Have More Fun Doing It – The Time Management Hall of Fame

Good morning! We’re talking time management this week, and I’m listening to Vivian Laurence’s unbelievable music.

This is a departure from our fulfillment series, but as promised, I’ll write based on your asks. A friend requested my best productivity hacks – so here we go:

  • Read Essentialism (or shortcut to top quotes here). Cross half the stuff you’re doing off your list. “You cannot overestimate the unimportance of practically everything.”
  • Commit to just 3 tasks per day. This approach clarifies your personal priorities while leaving space to accommodate the needs of others and the inevitable mishaps the day will bring.
  • Chunk like-minded tasks together. Instead of ‘write newsletter, drop RTR returns, prep for clarity session, pick up laundry, call insurance, call the bank’, these tasks could be chunked as:
    • Serve as a coach – draft newsletter, prep for clarity session
    • Offline errands – pick up laundry, drop RTR returns
    • Care for mama – call insurance, call bank
Looking at the list this way, I see I have two hours of ‘thinking’ work that is best done in the morning. Then, I’ll take a break to run the errands, and when my brain is dead later, I’ll do the phone calls.
  • Make it fun!!! Take your least sexy tasks and make them fun. For example, do your expense reports while sitting on the beach. Write that deck by a roaring fire with a coffee. Listen to a podcast while you wash dishes.

There’s A LOT more where this came from, but these are the hall-of-fame tips I utilize daily. Hoping they bring you more peace, balance, and play!
