Your magic eight-ball

Hi you!

Welcome back to “Notes from Time Away: One Actionable Idea a Week for a Better Quality of Life.” Here’s your listening track for the week. Cozy up next to that fire above, and let’s dive in.

We’re continuing our series on fulfillment – that yummy spot where contentment meets pride.

This week is about values—the driving force behind our decisions about time and money and the fastest route back to alignment when we fall out.

I’m passionate about values because they act like a personal eight-ball. Not sure what decision to make? Look at your values. Feel kind of meh? Express a value that’s been missing for you. Designing your days/weeks/months? Consult your values.

How do you know what yours are? Try these questions:

  • What are you doing when no one is looking and you’ve got time to yourself? (Reading, planning a trip, futzing with home decor)
  • What do you talk about so much that your friends lovingly start to roll their eyes? (Wellness)
  • What themes show up in your YouTube/TikTok/Instagram/Pinterest? (Wellness, interior design, families)
  • Where’s your disposable income going? (Health, travel, seeing friends and family)
  • You just had a fantastic week. What made it great? (lots of space, quiet time to think, time in nature, exercise, connection with my partner, family, and friends)
  • If you could give everyone in the world one thing, what would you be gifting? (a soothing, qualified, listening ear)

Look at your answers and notice what themes appear. The example above includes wellness, aesthetics, connection, s p a c e, and traveling. Find words that inspire you.

Now, look at next week and consider what you could add or delete to express more of your values. Being true to ourselves increases our self-esteem, purpose, and fulfillment. It’s such a powerful hack!

With love,

Kit

PS—A reminder you can request topics for these emails here. I love this stuff and will customize it to fit your needs!

PPS – The fire pictured above is from my first Time Away bonfire on Muir Beach. My fire-making skills have improved since then, so trust you’ll get more flames if you join me for one 🙂
