3 tips for being your own Valentine

Hi! Happy almost Valentine’s!

Let’s talk about how to be loving to ourselves and what to do when the nasty voices in your head attack you.

There are mornings I wake up, and I am just down – for no apparent reason. I have all kinds of unhelpful thoughts running through my head. Here’s what I do to comfort myself in those moments:

  1. Journal it out. Try a fear inventory – literally, write out everything you’re scared of. For example, I’m afraid I’m just not good enough, no one likes me, and my business is losing momentum.
  2. Put your hand on your heart and let the scared parts of you speak aloud. You can imagine a younger version of yourself crawling into your lap to vent. You might try to tell that version of you it’s understandable they feel that way, you love them, and it’s all going to be ok. (you can say anything else that might come to mind too!)
  3. Just let it be. Instead of judging these fears for coming up, allow them. It’s ok they’re here. They are a tender part of you that’s just looking to be expressed. They are welcome. Rumi’s poem on this topic is a nice reminder.

For extra credit, grab a photo of yourself as a child and write yourself a little valentine. What are you proud of yourself for? What do you think is so cute about you? What is it about your essence that’s just so beautiful?

Lavish yourself with some love. Most of us are bone dry in this department. Start pouring some of your own love right into your cup. No one can do it better than you.

♥️

A big hug,

Kit
