It’s that time of year!
Hope you’re gearing up for a nice holiday season or that you have plans to keep yourself resourced through the holidays.
Today, we’re talking about where you want to grow and how you want to give in the New Year. I’ve heard Tony Robbins talk about these two ideas as the keys to fulfillment. If we’re not growing, we’re stagnating; if we don’t turn our growth into gifts for others, we never experience true fulfillment.
So – where and how do you want to invest your time, money, and energy in service of your personal growth and your contribution to others next year?
Some ideas for investing in yourself:
- You can trust what you’re drawn to in your mental health journey. Unlike breaking your leg, tending to your mental health isn’t straightforward. Tell five people you’re feeling depressed, and you’ll get five different solutions. Try looking at what you’re curious about, reading about, or paying attention to, and invest in that. Is meditation calling to you, or do you like a particular teacher online? Perhaps it’s your year to try psychedelics? One of my favorite tricks is to do it if different people recommend it to you 3 times!
- You can afford to invest in yourself. There’s always a way to take care of yourself. Do the free option, join the group instead of 1:1, or start with a book from the library. OR – try my ‘pulling money out of thin air method’: Say what you want is $5k, but you didn’t budget for that. Here are 5 ways to chip away at the fee: 1) Ask your employer to cover part/all of it, 2) Write it off, 3) Cancel 2 subscriptions, 4) Use miles for an upcoming trip or 5) Say no to something you felt obligated to, like flying cross country for a trip you don’t want to take. Voila! Combined, that cuts the cost down, and you could do a payment plan for the rest spread out over the year.
Thought starters for investing in others:
- Bored of your current volunteer gig? Leave it! It makes room for others to step in and allows you to follow your heart to your next cause. Similar to the idea that you don’t have to finish every book you start, you’re not obligated to the same donations of your time and money year after year.
- Make it a group thing! Decide how you want to volunteer as a couple, family, neighbor community, or friend group. Can you imagine anything more fulfilling than giving back to your community with the people you love? Win Win Win.
Wishing you a great end of the year, and get excited for next week because we’re talking all about visioning! Get your Pinterest boards ready 😉

PS – I hope it goes without saying that if Time Away is calling to you for next year, my door is open. If you’re ready for your next big move, if you’re sick and tired of being sick and tired, if you’re terrified by a goal you have, or if you’re wondering if this is all there is – those are good reasons to take 2 days out of the next 365 to focus on yourself, your heart, and your dreams! You 100% deserve to live the life you want to be living. And you can!
